American editor and critic. Born in St. Louis in 1862, Reedy served his apprenticeship as a writer on the Missouri Republican, then as a reporter for the Globe-Democrat, and in 1893 became the city editor of the St. Louis Mirror. He soon owned the Mirror and the publication changed from a gossip sheet to a sophisticated literary magazine.
